Welcome to the City of New Braunfels Community Development Block
Grant (CDBG) home page. We hope you will find useful information
regarding this program, answering any questions you might have
about how federal funds are being utilized to enhance and
improve the quality of life in our community.
The City of New Braunfels is celebrating its twelfth year of
participation in the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
Program, having become an entitlement city in 1994. CDBG funds,
obtained through the U. S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), are
obtained through a competitive grant on a yearly basis. These
funds are then distributed throughout the community to provide
eligible recipients with annual grants that can be used to
revitalize neighborhoods, expand affordable housing and economic
opportunities and/or improve community facilities and services,
principally to benefit low- and moderate-income persons.
This program is an excellent example of the partnership of
federal, state, and local government; non-profit and community
efforts, and has been a presence in the New Braunfels community
for twelve years, contributing more than $4,500,000 dollars to
our community. The following links will tell you more about the program, what
the plans are for the coming year, and how you may participate
in the process. To view specific information about the CDBG
